I think we're MAD

It’s been a while since I blogged but that often happens when I get really busy with work. However, I had a short bit to throw out there now that my company is transitioning between two projects.

There’s been a lot of talk about approaches to development such as test driven development, behavior driven development, feature driven development or design driven development. I have a new one to add to this list that I seemed to have stumbled into… MAD, marketing appointed development.

It’s really pretty simple. Company A promises a new product on date B to a large, eager audience. It then informs its development team that we have a new product to build and deliver. Sounds fun doesn’t it? Oh, and they did not base date B on any factual data or estimates. Do you work in a MAD environment? I guess I do.
